Dear members and friends ~
After the arctic winter we had this year, it is soooo nice to see the chubby-bellied
robins in the fields and all the crocuses and daffodils popping their heads up out of the ground ... signs of spring and the renewal of the earth! This is my favorite
season, so, for me, there is always a sense of anticipation and excitement at this time of year. Those sky-high mountains of piled snow have finally melted and the
warmer temperatures and longer daytime hours make my heart feel lighter.
Of course, this temporal season is always accompanied by my favorite church
season as well ... Easter! The lengthy and sometimes somber Gospel readings give
way to messages of hope and light. The imagery of distress, suffering, and
abandonment is replaced by new life, wholeness, and promise. The painful cross of the crucifixion turns into the joy of the empty tomb.
While we all must deal with our various challenges each day, it is in this particular
season of resurrection that we are encouraged to hang on to the eternal promises
of our Savior; namely, the covenant we have with our Lord that we are never
walking these pathways alone and that we are loved beyond measure.
May the blessings of Christ keep you strong,
~ Pastor Lisa Borrell
