Greetings, dear members and friends ~
Like these warmer months often do, this summer seems to be flying by! I hope that you’ve been able to enjoy some relaxing moments to refresh and rejuvenate your souls.
Whenever we approach August, our thoughts tend to focus on “back to school” concerns or to the beginning of a new season. We look to get everything ready for our children or grandchildren to start a new grade and all the activities that come with that endeavor ... registering them for sports, buying new clothes, sneakers, and equipment, making sure they have all the needed items on their supplies list, getting physicals and eye exams, setting bedtime curfews so they get adequate rest, chauffeuring them to and from band or dance practices, and a whole lot more! It, indeed, takes a village to help raise children into healthy adults.
Please know that we at New Jerusalem are committed to helping you with this task. This materializes with dedicated folks who nurture their learning and faith formation by teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation, and 1st Holy Communion classes. I know these events are another thing to add to the list of “things to do,” but it is important! Together, we encourage discussion and impart values that are essential to living out our calling as Jesus’ disciples in our community and world. Please consider their involvement in this spiritual development as the new school year will soon be upon us.
Also, as you will read in this newsletter, we are graciously asking for donations of
school supplies for children and youth who are currently in the foster care system. Our gifts can go a long way in supporting them as they, too, begin a new year. Thanks so much for blessing others!
In Christ ~ Pastor Lisa Borrell
