Apple's Preschool News

Have you seen the article about Apple’s Preschool featured in the Saucon Source at www.sauconsource.com, Learning is Fun at Apple’s Preschool by JOSH POPICHAK | May 18, 2018.  Remember when learning was fun?  If you’ve forgotten when that was, a visit to Apple’s Preschool in Lower Saucon Township might remind you.  The small non-denominational preschool at New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church on Apples Church Road prides itself on educating children ages 3 to 5—including pre-kindergartners—in a setting that excites young minds and encourages their curiosity.  To read more, please go to www.sauconsource.com.  Registration is still open for the fall, please contact Shani for more information.

Apple's Preschool 2018–2019 school year will be begin on Tuesday, September 4, 2018!

Learning is fun and we are so excited to meet you!

The teachers, children, and their families would like to say how thankful we are for some wonderful changes made to our classroom in July.  We thank Schoolhouse Christian Preschool, previously of Christ Lutheran Church of Lower Saucon, for their generous donation to us from some of their funds after closing their doors.  Part of that money and proceeds from our Fun Pasta Fundraiser were used to purchase and install a much needed and appreciated air conditioning unit.

The ministry and legacy of Schoolhouse Christian Preschool will continue through the comfort from the heat, allowing us to enjoy cooler temperatures and summer programs moving into the future.  We appreciated very much the research, scheduling, and installation by Bill Bender and those that assisted with this project.

A big thank you also goes to Bill Young, giving the preschool bathroom a makeover.  He replaced the lighting and exhaust fan along with repairing the heater cover and painting the whole room.  The classroom is coming together for our first day of school on September 4th!

We are so blessed!

We look forward to a year filled with many new learning experiences.  For more information, click here to see our church website's Preschool tab introducing you to our teachers, school days and times, and our philosophy.

You can also find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ApplesChurchPreschool.

Thank you from Master Sergeant Dolly (Darlene) Kirk of USAF: ~ “…truly I am blessed and very thankful indeed by the beautiful care package you sent to me for Veteran’s Day.  As I’m currently serving in the OK Air National Guard and back from Kuwait about a year, please know I appreciate your prayers, goodies and love so very much.  I was baptized in your church and have many fond memories from NJELC.  This church gave me amazing and strong foundations, which still serve me and enable me to serve in this (at times) difficult occupation.  Your love, patriotism and prayers continue to bless me, even though the goodies are gone, the notes are filed in my journal and in my heart.  May God continue to bless this church and all your ministries.”

Thank you from Good Shepherd from the proceeds of the Hoagie Sale ~ “On behalf of everyone at Good Shepherd, thank you for your generous support.  Your in-kind gift of the Dance and Move Beat Bo; Learning Lantern; Bump and Bubble Robot; My First Saxophone, Swirl Art, Playful Penguin Coaster, and Adapted Gearations is greatly appreciated.  Good Shepherd is truly blessed to have you on our team!”

Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2018 Thank you ~ A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, attended and brought children to our VBS program this year!  We served 65 children with 40 volunteers.  We were a little overwhelmed by the last minute registrants for the program, but everyone rallied and we found additional volunteers to make it work.  We are so happy that participants are worshiping with us and want to come back next year, some to be volunteers!  The children raised $222.65 for the Operation Kid to Kid program to send seeds to Haiti.  With the generous donations from families, the Endowment grant money and Action Team funds from Thrivent Financial, we were able to cover almost all of the expenses, using only a small amount of the church budget monies.  Looking ahead to next summer, we plan to have an organizational meeting in early spring to begin plans for VBS 2019!

* Schedule and manage recurring donations even when you are on vacation.

* Make one-time donations to special appeals

* Pay for events, programs, and other activities

* Don’t have to cash or a checkbook

Our first Sunday of Cross Training (a.k.a. Sunday School) will begin on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Please join us!

A message from Pastor Rick Brown of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Hellertown.  Here is our inspiration and basis for the project:  for years, Hellertown had a "Senior Lunch" around Thanksgiving hosted at Dewey Fire Company.  The meal was enjoyed by many but unfortunately, like so many things, it couldn't last forever.  We, however, wish to pick up the mantle of this meal and resurrect it.  While we will be keeping some key elements that made this program meaningful we will be making some slight changes, such as opening it to folks other than seniors, as we know that "need" plays no favorites.  Furthermore, as we seek to bring together church congregations and community organizations, let us rally around the common purpose of this project: "to feed people and create community."  While the motivating force behind our involvement may differ, I am confident that we all wish our community members to be fed and in the company of people who care for them.

To this end, we happily invite you and other interested to join us for a planning meeting on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 645 Main Street, Hellertown, PA 18055.  Please park in the our lot behind the building and enter via the back door . If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself and Mrs. Miller.  My information is listed below and Debby's email is debbymiller0709@gmail.com.

This bingo will be held before summer 2019 but now is the time that items will be on sale.  If you are interested in making a donation (item or monetary) or know of an organization that will sponsor a prize, please contact Cindy Hart at 610-838-5838 or email cmh505@lehigh.edu.

It’s never too early to start planning to make this event a success.
