Siblings in Christ,
Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
The season of Easter is here! It is a season of celebration and praise for our Lord, Jesus Christ! It is fifty days of celebrating and remembering the power of God’s love! Jesus, came into our world in human form, lived, loved and healed communities and individuals in his midst, and then died upon the cross at the hands of the people who he came to save. On the third day, however, the power of God’s love was more fully revealed, when Jesus was no longer “among the dead”, but was instead living! He was so alive, Mary mistook him for the gardener! Jesus is Risen! Death met its match and was defeated!
So what does this mean? Well, it means throughout our lives, we will come to experiences of death, loss, and endings, however we know that no matter how painful these losses may be, hope remains. We can face the realities of life: our humanity, our sins, our shortcomings, the suffering of our neighbors. We can see these realities for what they are, trusting that they will not be the end all be all. We can ask for help in situations that leave us stumped. We can seek forgiveness from those we have harmed. We can offer forgiveness to those who have hurt us. We can accompany our neighbor in relieving their suffering. We can keep watch for signs of new life!
What are some signs of new life that you have seen lately? The spring plants are poking up through the ground after a season of hibernation! People who have experienced the loss of loved ones are coming together in community! Our community continues to come together to get to know one another and worship God, while welcoming in new folks! All signs of new life!
Christ Is Risen, Indeed. Alleluia!
Peace in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Lauren Applegate
