Apple's Preschool News

We are excited to have the characters from “Beauty and the Beast” production at DeSales’ Children’s Theater visit our classroom on March 1st to read to the children and do a craft with them prior to our visit to see the play in April.  The preschool now has 36 students enrolled and we have 20 registered for 2018-19 school year.  We still have openings in all classes for this year and next.

We look forward to a new year in 2018 filled with many new learning experiences. You can also find us on Facebook at

Miss Shani, Miss Katrina, and Miss Denise

To the Members of New Jerusalem Church ~ During a time like this we realize how much our friends and family really mean to us.  Your expression of sympathy whether it was an email, a card or note, being there with our family and I to celebrate Butch’s life, or keeping us in your prayers will always be remembered.

I know Butch touched my life, our children, and our grandchildren's lives, but to have the outpouring of love and support that my family and I received at his viewing and service was very comforting and moving.  You may or may not have ever met him, but he touched so many through the wonderful, humble, and courageous person he truly was and was an inspiration to many.  We were so fortunate to have had him in our lives and with the precious gift of a kidney transplant enabled us to have him for an additional 32 years!

Butch and I send you our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to you for thinking of him over the years through your prayers, cards, telephone calls, church flowers, visits, and for Pastor Lauren's visits and bringing communion to him all of which enabled him to remain connected to you and the church.  And a special note of thanks to everyone who prepared the church for his viewing, service, and luncheon; created and printed the bulletin for his service; Pastor Lauren and those who participated in service and served communion; and to everyone who cleaned up afterward--you were our angels that day!  Love and blessings, Linda Weaver and family

Thank you Quinette Brucker–Director of Music and Eric Moser–Choir Director ~ New Jerusalem Church thanked Quinette and Eric on January 28th for sharing their time, talents, and love of music with this congregation over the years--Godspeed and Happy Retirement!

Pictures of Quinette and Eric as Pastor Lauren prays for them and sends them forth to begin their Retirement.

You are invited to sign up to participate in "Greet the Pastor!"

Invite Pastor Lauren into your home so that she can get to know you and your family.  Please sign up for a time that is most convenient for you, and when most people who live in your household are available.  Contact Pastor directly to schedule a time.

Prayer Shawl

There is a basket of beautiful handmade prayer shawls in the Narthex.  If you know of someone who is having hard times (illness, sadness, troubles), please take one for them.  These shawls are meant to show a tangible message of God's love and the care and concern of friends from New Jerusalem.

Giant Gift Card Rewards Program has been restarted and will be available in the Upper Room during coffee hour each Sunday.  You can purchase your gift cards with cash or a check made out to NJELC. Denominations are $100, $50, $25, and $20 cards. The profits will be directed towards the new roof fund for the church building. Please see Tina McCardle in the Upper Room to help support our efforts in the church. Call her with questions or future special orders at 610 838-6784 or email her at  Tina Young will be assisting when Tina McCardle is not available.

2018 Giving Envelopes are available for pickup in the Narthex.  If you have not received yours, please contact the church office at 610-838-0731.

Offering Checks ~ Effective January 1, 2018 all offering checks should be made out to New Jerusalem Church or NJELC.  Members of Christ Lutheran will no longer have envelopes from Christ Lutheran and all offering will be going into New Jerusalem accounts.  You will be given credit for your offerings, as always.  Thank you for your attention to this matter as we go forward with our merger.  Tina McCardle

2018 Altar Flower Sign-up Sheet is located in the Narthex.
Altar flowers are a great way to honor or remember someone dear.
The cost is $35.00 or 2 people/families may share a week for $17.50/each.

Soup for Sale ~ Once again we will be selling soup at coffee hour starting
January 7, 2018 through ???.  We are in need of soup makers and buyers.  Please see Phyllis Reiss to volunteer making your delicious homemade soup.

Lemon Tree Oh So Pretty ~ Many of you have enjoyed watching our lemon tree in the Upper Room as it grew and produced many beautiful lemons over the past few months.  Well, it will soon be time to pick those lemons—NOT YET!  We are working on having fun with it and turning it into a "fun fund raiser."  So, please look, BUT don't touch or pick the lemons.

So when Life Gives You Lemons from a beautiful lemon tree - we are going to have fun and raise money for a good cause.  We will be selling chances ($1 each).  Each “ ticket” goes into the container.   We will pick the lemons and each winner drawn will be awarded a beautiful lemon.  So you are thinking “A dollar for one lemon ?”  Yes - but the money raised will be donated to St. Jude Hospital for Children where many families truly need to “make lemonade when life gives you lemons.”  So, PLEASE buy many tickets for many chances to win many lemons.  As a fun sideline we will be having “lemon baskets” to take chances on and a  coffee hour of amazing lemon desserts.  So let’s have fun and support a very great hospital.

Brady Bags ~ As many of you know, our youngest grandson, Brady, was born 11 weeks early.  He had many obstacles, therapy, 2 surgeries and some very tough days.  Well--that was 5 years ago !!  Brady will be 5 in March.  He is a healthy and spunky little guy.

To celebrate and show our thankfulness for his good health and our many blessings, our family is making “Brady bags” for St. Luke’s NICU. "  The small cloth bags will include baby items and gift cards to show families who are going through this now that WE CARE.  If you would like to contribute to this charity, please see Jere or Phyllis or call 610-653-8655.

Do you like to pray?  Do you like to pray for others?  Please join our Prayer Team if this sounds like you.  If you prefer notices by email contact Kathy Fenstermacher at  If you would to receive a phone call please write your name and phone number on paper and submit to the church office.  If you want to include your name and number and place in the offering plate we will be sure to get it to Anne Schaffer.  Thank you being part of this ministry!
