Church Council "Connections" from the May 2017 Meeting

June 7, 2017

Hello from your New Jerusalem “Apples” Church Council.  In an effort to improve communication across the channels of our congregation, we have decided to provide a brief summary of what is happening at our Council monthly meetings.  Some of you might not be aware that all are invited to attend Church Council meetings, which are held every second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Any questions or concerns should be brought to the meeting or placed in the question box located in the Narthex.  Of course, you can always catch up to a current council member and ask them for help as well.  As your Council President, I am available by email to btyoung@rcn.com or call 610-797-8440.

The Council officers for 2017 are:

  • President:  Bill Young

  • Vice President:  Jesse Hart

  • Secretary:  Barbara Young

  • Treasurer:  Nicole Reily/Terry Ravier

May 2017 Summary

Church council members continue to work hard handling the business end of our ministry.  I ask for your grace and patience over the next few months as we transition into one church body with Christ Lutheran Church of Lower Saucon.  Many decisions will need to be made along this journey with input from committee members of both congregations.  For those folks who attended the last church service at CLC-LS, we experienced the deep level of commitment church members have and understand this will take time to transition.  Let’s do our best to help new members feel welcome and accepted while we grow together.

As for questions from the Narthex box, we have a few.

  • Who decides what families picture goes up on the board for the month?
Answer:  Cindy Hart from the Communications committee asks families if they are willing to participate.  If willing, Cindy puts it together and it’s displayed for a month.

  • Who refills the pencils and visitor cards in the pews?
Answer:  The Communications committee has been working hard to create updated brochures and visitor packets.  The committee members also handle the card and pencil refills.

Peace be with you,

Bill Young, Council President
